COOKING FOR COMFORT (AND BEATING COVID 19 BLUES)

Cooking for comfort with Jamie Oliver recipe

Covid 19 took its toll in Johannesburg, where the Delta variant was rampant. Strictly isolated at home, we nonetheless found a rhythm in the altered lifestyle.

My husband’s creative output was impressive. An actor and musician, he became involved in new ventures for clients seeking ads which he wrote and voiced, he wrote several new songs and a radio play for RSG.

CHICKEN PIE FOR THE SOUL AND A TWEET FROM JAMIE OLIVER

I found myself busier than ever on the work front but also devoted time to washing and cleaning the house and expanding my cooking repertoire, an apparent common outcome among people trying to counter the Covid 19 blues. Things I had barely eaten before, let alone cooked, but my Internet searches inspired me, including chicken pie, courtesy of Jamie Oliver.

Twitter was another diversion and I let Jamie Oliver know how much I enjoyed following his recipes.

To my delight, my tweet about chicken pie received a response from Jamie himself although he let Bill Murray applaud my effort in a perfectly chosen GIF (it is animated on Twitter).
